Corten steel, also known as weathering steel, is a high-strength alloy that develops a stable, protective rust-like appearance when exposed to the elements. This surface layer actually protects the base metal from further corrosion, ensuring lifelong durability without the need for painting.
How long does it take for the steel to develop its orange patina?
The natural weathering process typically begins within a few weeks of outdoor exposure and can take 6 to 18 months to reach full maturity. The speed of this process depends on Ireland's rainfall and humidity levels.
Do you offer nationwide delivery across Ireland?
Yes, we provide secure, tracked shipping to all 32 counties in Ireland. Due to the weight of Corten steel products, larger items like fire pits and planters are delivered via specialized pallet courier to ensure they arrive safely.
Will the rust runoff stain my patio or driveway?
During the initial weathering stage, Corten steel can produce some carbon runoff which may stain porous surfaces like light-colored stone or concrete. We recommend placing products on grass or gravel during the first few months, or using a tray to catch runoff.
What is your return policy for garden furniture and planters?
We offer a 14-day return period for standard stock items, provided they are in their original, unweathered condition. Please note that custom-fabricated or bespoke dimensions are non-refundable unless a manufacturing defect is present.
